Welcome to Roller Girl Gang CIC

Roller skate enthusiasts Roller Girl Gang CIC are new tenants in Mill 5, setting up a new permanent base for both their coaching and retail activities. The business has relocated from Leeds Corn Exchange to this destination venue. It has been named The Skate Sanctuary, as founder Mel Blackwood explains “We want to amplify the feeling of safety that our customers and members of the skate community loved about our tiny shop in Leeds Corn Exchange and include more opportunities to actually skate. Roller Girl Gang specialise in confidence building through roller skating, so providing a space where people feel able to do that, at a time to suit them is a dream come true.”
“Although very early days at the new studio and shop, the reception from the established skate community in Leeds has been fantastic. Even better, folks who have been interested in roller skating but have not yet started their journey, are seeking us out. We are also delighted to be able to offer more sessions for all ages, as this is something we previously didn’t have the capacity to do.”
“Mabgate Mills was really the only destination venue for us as it is walking distance to the city centre as well as the sports hall we hold our larger group weekly sessions in. The strong community at Mabgate Mills, with a great female-founded presence as well as creative, were also important in choosing where to relocate to. Roller Girl Gang is a Community Interest Company working to connect people, build confidence and bring more joy to our everyday lives. I am thrilled that we have secured a permanent base and excited to put all the plans I’ve been developing for years into action.”
